This in-person panel program will discuss the Western New York real estate market and what steps the local development community is taking to keep the momentum going as headwinds emerge in the real estate sector.  
 
Join us to hear from local developers, legal professionals, and community development and commercial real estate experts on a broad range of topics: 
 

Ms. Nason is the Leader of Phillips Lytle’s Land, Environment and Energy Practice Group. She focuses her practice on land use and zoning, environmental law and energy matters. She appears before municipalities across the State on behalf of business owners and developers regarding applications for zoning permits and approvals, including special use permits, site plan approvals, variance requests, subdivisions and rezonings. Her land use and development practice includes extensive knowledge regarding compliance with the State Environmental Quality Review Act. As a member of the firm’s Energy Practice Team, her expertise includes matters relating to the development and permitting of solar energy facilities. Additionally, Ms. Nason has experience in the area of telecommunications relating to the development, modification, and operation of cell towers and other communications facilities. Ms. Nason also has experience appearing before New York State Department of State Regional Boards of Review on applications for variances from the New York State Uniform Fire Prevention and Building Code In addition, Ms. Nason counsels clients on compliance with state and federal environmental laws and regulations, and has been involved with environmental due diligence and transactional support. She handles complex Clean Air Act compliance and permitting matters with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation
Ms. Haubenreich focuses her practice on environmental law, land use and zoning, and telecommunications law. She has experience counseling clients on environmental due diligence, environmental compliance, litigation, appeals and alternative dispute resolution. Ms. Haubenreich represents clients in regulatory and transactional matters before the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection and New York City Environmental Control Board. She handles land use and zoning matters, including compliance with the State Environmental Quality Review Act and telecommunications siting, appearing before municipalities across New York State.
Ms. Johnson Hux joined LISC in November 2019. She began as Developer Education program lead, creating developer trainings for commercial real estate and affordable housing developers. In 2021, she began her new position as Deputy Director of the LISC WNY office, with a focus on inclusive economic development. In a recent transition with our LISC NYC Sister Office, Tyra’s role transitioned in 2022 to WNY Director of Operations Ms. Johnson Hux is founder and President of Blue Sky Design Supply. She started Blue Sky out of a desire to put her values into action. Her vision for Blue Sky is of a company that generates an enduring enthusiasm for environmental and social sustainability. Blue Sky Design Supply is a retail store that features innovative and environmentally friendly building products and home décor. Blue Sky Concepts, the consulting division of Blue Sky Design Supply, helps clients develop construction projects, outreach programs and policies that reflect their values and commitment to the community. Before founding Blue Sky, Ms. Johnson Hux was a project manager at for the largest commercial construction firm in Western New York. She established a track record for completing multimillion-dollar projects by developing strong partnerships with architects, contractors, vendors and clients while maintaining costs. She offers Blue Sky clients expertise in building successful business relationships, and developing and executing targeted initiatives that enhance customer satisfaction. A sought-after speaker, Ms. Johnson Hux has conducted several training programs for professionals in the construction industry. She offers a series of lectures on the benefits of sustainable practices. Additionally, Ms. Johnson Hux serves as an adjunct professor at Daemen College teaching a Sustainable Business Practices course. Passionate about community involvement, she currently serves on the board of directors for 43North and ECIDA (Erie County Industrial Development Agency). Accolades she has received include: 2005 National Inner Cities Youth Organization Volunteer of the Year, BEAM 2008 Charles Campbell Sr. Outstanding Service Award, 2008 Pathfinders Award. Ms. Johnson Hux was named a “WNY Game Changer” in the December 2012 issue of Buffalo Spree and featured in Buffalo Magazine’s “Women & Power” March 2014 issue. A 2008 graduate of the Leadership Buffalo, Ms. Johnson Hux holds a bachelor of science degree in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She earned her master’s in business administration degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo. She is an accredited Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design (LEED) professional.
Nick Sinatra began his career by working for The Empire State Agency in Buffalo, New York, assisting in economic development with Governor George Pataki. While in that position, Nick helped secure a development deal that brought Geico’s 2,300 job call center into Amherst, New York. Afterward, Nick Sinatra worked for the White House as the Associate Political Director for President Bush. In that position, he handled the president’s political affairs throughout the northeastern region of the United States. His success in politics inspired him to make a difference in a new way. In 2009, he took his experiences back to New York state to establish Sinatra & Company Real Estate, a firm that has distinguished itself from other REITs for its fresh approach towards evaluating investments, its passionate professionals and a dedicated focus on distressed multi-family and commercial properties in Western New York and Chicagoland. He has earned the CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation as a commercial real estate industry expert and is licensed in the State of New York as a Real Estate Broker (Lic. #10351209159). Since coming on board in 2007, Mike has negotiated numerous lease deals for office, retail & telecommunication space and also has experience in property management and investment-grade real estate acquisitions analysis.
